SunriSE is a community nursery for babies and children aged from 3 months to 5 years old. We believe that every child is unique and deserves a good start in life. Our children are nurtured and cared for by experienced staff in a specially designed space to maximise their potential.
We welcome children and families from all backgrounds into our nursery, and are proud to be run by and for the community. This means we have a genuinely diverse group of staff and children, and work to be inclusive and open throughout the nursery.
Our setting is in an ideal, built-for-purpose space, which was designed specifically with the needs of a nursery in mind, and with the movement and safety of early years children as a priority. Our building and grounds are bright, cheerful and accessible whilst being comfortable and secure.
Being a not-for-profit nursery, our charges are designed to be fair to parents, and we have various policies in place to make our fee structures supportive to families. If you would like to know more about how the nursery operates as a charity you can read more here.
As well as taking care of your child, we consider the nursery to play an important role in the children’s lives - where they can learn, socialise, express themselves and develop independence. Our care is based on Learning through Play, and follows the Birth to 5 Matters guidance for development and reaching potential. We adhere to Ofsted’s standards on quality childcare, and consider Safeguarding and Welfare to be of the utmost importance.
Ofsted is the regulatory body that ensures quality and effectiveness in the care of children and young people, in education and skills for all ages. SunriSE Community Nursery was visited by Ofsted in March 2019 to ensure that we effectively support children’s learning and development. The inspection also covered our adherence to the statutory requirement within the framework. We were delighted to achieve Good in all areas, with inspectors noting that staff and leaders "are motivated to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children" Please see here for further details of the report.

Deposit: To secure your placement at the nursery we require a 4-week deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.

Free Early Years Education Entitlement (FEEE): We strive to make sure that all children who meet the prescribed criteria are able to take up a free place, or free hours benefitting their social, physical and cognitive development and outcomes, and helping them prepare for school. As Sunrise Community Nurseries is an all year round nursery rather than term time, we deliver the FEEE using the stretched offer. This means that if you are entitled to 15 hours, you will get 11 hours a week, for those entitled to 30, this then doubles to 22 hours a week. These hours are deducted from your weekly fees at the hourly rate for your child’s age bracket. Fees are then calculated as all other fees: Weekly Fee x 52 weeks, / 12 months to pay the same figures each month. We will only offer term time places for those children who are fully funded and not taking on additional hours. You can see a breakdown of fees when applying the stretched offer here.
2 Year Free Entitlement: To be able to take up 15 hours of free childcare for your two-year-old the term after your child’s 2nd birthday, you or your child must meet the eligibility criteria. Please visit GOV.UK for further information.
3 Year Free Entitlement: All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education during the term time. Children become eligible for this funding the term after their 3rd birthday. The 15 hour free entitlement sessions are offered to parents over 1 x full day & 1 x half day session or 3x half day sessions depending on availability, with a maximum of 2 morning sessions. Our Morning Session is 8am-1pm and the Afternoon Session is 1pm-6pm.
30 Hours Free Entitlement: For working families with 3 & 4 year old children, the 30 hours free entitlement can be used during the term time. Children become eligible for this funding the term after their 3rd birthday. Please check your eligibility at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
Tax Free Childcare: For working and self-employed families with children aged 0-11 (0-16 if disabled) earning under £100k and at least £142 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage) who aren't receiving Tax Credits, Universal Credit or childcare vouchers.
